Kenrick Cockerill 

Chief Executive

 

Ken holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Natal, and was appointed as Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Tanzania in December 2013.

 

He joined the Standard Bank Group in Durban in 1987, as a graduate on an accelerated development program. His first managerial appointment was in Johannesburg in 1990 in the Corporate Banking Division.

 

He subsequently joined the Group’s Rest of Africa business, and has since filled various senior roles in a number of countries across the African continent, including Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania. Prior to assuming his current role, Ken was Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking in Mozambique.

 

 

 

Thomas Bisonga 

Executive Director & Head, Corporate & Investment Banking

 

Thomas Bisonga joined the Stanbic Tanzania Board in September 2016, with Commercial experience
that spans over 20 years, and gained over multiple jurisdictions in Africa and North America.

 

He has been with the Standard Bank Group since 2013, and is currently the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank Tanzania. Prior to his Tanzania assignment, Thomas spent his time at Standard Americas Inc. - New York USA, Stanbic Bank Botswana, Standard Bank of South Africa – Johannesburg, South Africa and at Stanbic Bank Kenya.


He has had extensive exposure in the Services sector, where he has managed clientele from Corporate, Government, NGOs, and Financial Sectors, in addition to leading diverse, high performance teams over the years. Before joining the Standard Bank Group, Thomas held Senior Sales Management roles at Sarova Hotels Group and, the then, United Touring Group in Kenya.
Thomas did his studies in Kenya, and is an alumnus of Kenyatta University, where he concluded his Business studies.

 

 

 

Hendrik Stemmet 

Executive Head, Personal & Business Banking

 

Hendrik Stemmet joined the Stanbic Bank Tanzania team as Head of Business Banking in January 2014
and was promoted to Executive Head of Personal and Business Banking (PBB) in December 2014.



Primarily he is accountable for developing and managing the country PBB strategy and optimizing
Country PBB performance, among other responsibilities.



Hendrik commenced his career with Standard Bank of South Africa in 1982. He joined the group through a three-year accelerated training program for young talent which exposed him to almost all divisions in the bank, thus gaining valuable experience.


He subsequently held various managerial positions in the bank before being seconded to Namibia as Head of Vehicle and Asset Financing (VAF). This was followed by a four-year stint in Uganda, initially as Head of VAF and later as Head of Products and Lending. He was also President of Uganda Leasing Association. He then spent the next 3 years in Nigeria as Head of VAF & Bancassurance, before joining the Tanzania team.



Hendrik holds a Bachelor of Commerce ( Economics) degree from UNISA and completed his post graduate studies at University of Stellenbosch Business School. He has been a subject matter speaker in numerous countries and is a recipient of several awards for outstanding contribution to business growth and customer relations, including being the Retail Banking Star for the years 2004, 2005 and 2006.

 

 

 

Wilmot Ishengoma 

Head, Risk

 

Wilmot Ishengoma is the Head of Risk for Stanbic Bank Tanzania Limited.

 

His core responsibility is to ensure adequate and effective risk management across various functions of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Limited. This involves identification, assessment, control, monitoring and reporting of various risk profiles that the bank is exposed to.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA Member).

 

Wilmot has a collective experience of over 10 years in audit assurance and risk management in various industry sectors. He joined the Bank in April 2013 as an Internal Audit Manager, after spending over 6 years with PwC Tanzania; where he held various positions, most recent ones being Assistant Audit Manager and Senior Audit Associate responsible for providing auditing and assurance services in various sectors including banking and financial institutions, manufacturing , hotel and hospitality and donor funded projects.

 

 

Jonathan Ngoma 

Head, Internal Audit

 

Jonathan Ngoma is the Head of Internal Audit at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, a role he has held since June
2014.

 

He joined the Stanbic team as Chief Internal Auditor and is also a Board Member of the Institute of Internal
Auditors -Tanzania.

 

Jonathan graduated from the Institute of Accountancy Arusha with an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy in 2001, becoming a Certified Public Accountant three years later. He is currently finalizing his Master’s in Business Administration from ESAMI and looking to be a Certified Internal Auditor through the Institute of Internal Audit.

 

He has also attended various trainings such as the GIA methodology, Audit Report Writing and AAS, Risk Based Audit Training, IT Audit, Security and Governance to mention but a few. Jonathan is a certifies trainer for the Institute of Internal audit ( IIA).

 

Prior to joining Stanbic Bank, he led the Internal Audit function at Exim Bank in Tanzania and the Djibouti and Comoros subsidiaries. He previously worked for NBC for 7 years, starting as an Internal Auditor and moving up to Audit Manager for both NBC and Barclays Internal Audit (African Subsidiaries), and as the Acting Head of Internal Audit for a year

 

 

 

Angela Mandi 

Head, CIB Credit

 

Angela Mandi is Stanbic Bank Tanzania’s Head of Corporate and Investment Banking – Credit.

 

Her roles encompass developing the team in the CIB Credit space and ensuring a sound portfolio,
among other responsibilities.

 

Angela has over a decade of work experience in Investment Banking, Credit Risk Management, Corporate Finance Mergers & Acquisition Structuring. Besides working for Standard Bank Group in both Kenya and South Africa in the capacity of Senior Credit Manager, she has also worked for Barclays Capital in the United States of America and Barclays Capital UK as an Investment Banking Analyst. She has also held other positions within Barclays Bank Group in Kenya, South Africa and Botswana, including stints at two major Audit firms; KPMG and PwC in Kenya as a Graduate Trainee and Corporate Finance Associate respectively.

 

Angela is a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She has successfully completed her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance, and a Masters of Arts in Economics & Economic Policy Management, both from the University of Nairobi.

 

   

 

Hakeem Abdul 

Head, Operations

 

Hakeem is a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (FCA). He holds a Higher National Diploma in
Accountancy from Kwara State Polytechnic and Masters in Business Administration in Finance from Manchester Business School, UK. He has also attended several trainings on Business Writing, Emotional Intelligence, Risk Management, Strategic Planning, Developing Analytical Competencies in Managing Operations, Team Leader Programme and Standard Bank Foundation Leadership Programme.

 

He began his banking career with Stanbic Bank Nigeria in 1998 when he first joined as an Officer in the Customer Service Unit.
From 1999 to 2002, he was transferred to Treasury operations and reconciliation function as Head of Unit. Hakeem has been exposed to other fields like the Internal Audit, Routine Control, Operations Support, until October 2007, when he was appointed as Head of Regional Operations. He was appointed to Core Banking Project (Finacle) in 2009 as the only Operations representative to define bank system requirements.

 

He then took on a support role in Namibia for 6 months and in 2012, he was promoted to Head, Production Operations, looking after the GMO, IBC, Processing & Clearing, CMU and O&M function before joining the Tanzania team.

 

Whilst working for Stanbic Bank Nigeria, Hakeem got a number of accolades including; the High Potential (HIPO) award, Star Award, Deed of the Month Award and Best Staff Award.

 

  

 

Desideria Mwegelo 

Head, Marketing & Corporate Affairs

 

Desideria Mwegelo is the Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs at Stanbic Bank Tanzania.

 

As Head of the department, she is responsible for implementing brand building and product marketing
strategies through advertising and promotions, merchandising, design of product tangibles, and corporate
identity compliance at all points of contact with clients.

 

Desideria holds an Executive MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute Dar es salaam (ESAMI) and is a Bachelor of Science graduate of the Northern Kentucky University - majoring in Marketing with a minor in Management.

 

She joined Stanbic Bank in 2011 as a Marketing Manager and was promoted to Head, Marketing & Corporate Affairs in 2014. She began her career in the U.S where she worked as a Manager for Deveroes - a leading Urban Retailer specializing in cutting edge urban fashion, later moving to Cash America International - a New York Stock Exchange company where she also worked as a Manager. After returning from the United States of America, Desideria joined the Tanzania Investment Bank as a Senior Marketing Officer before joining the Stanbic Bank team.

 

  

 

Edmond Msuya 

Head, Compliance & AML

 

Edmond Msuya is the Head of Compliance & Anti-Money Laundering at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, a position
he has held since 2013.

 

He is responsible for supporting the Chief Executive, Board Risk Committee, Head of Africa Compliance and the embedded business risk management functions to discharge their responsibilities relating to Compliance risk management and processes as required by relevant regulators, applicable codes of conduct and minimum standards.

 

Edmond holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Tumaini University. He joined the Stanbic family as a Compliance & Anti-Money Laundering Officer in July 2008, and has since taken up a gamut of roles within the organization. He was promoted to Manager - Compliance & Anti-Money Laundering in 2011, and also appointed as Acting Head of Risk & Compliance in 2011.

 

Besides his Law degree, Edmond has attended several trainings, including the Bank of Tanzania Prudential Regulations, Risk Management in Banks, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing, East African Banking School, Excellence in Customer Service and the Standard Bank Global Team Leader Program.

 

  

 

Lydia Kokugonza 

Head, Finance

 

Lydia Kokugonza is the Head of Finance for Stanbic Bank Tanzania. She has been with the Bank since
2011.

 

Her sole function is to set the strategic framework for developing a value added finance function that
provides customer focused finance solutions to business problems.

 

Lydia holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management - majoring in Marketing from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is also a Certified Public Accountant of Tanzania accredited by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors.

 

Lydia began her professional journey at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the capacity of an External Auditor taking on various assignments to audit companies in Banking & Financial Institutions, Donor Funded Projects and manufacturing sectors. She later moved to Exim Bank where she worked as Finance Manager and was promoted to Senior Finance Manager in 2010, before joining the Stanbic Bank team.

 

  

 

Peter Mugeni 

Head, PBB Credit

 

Peter Mugeni is the Head of Personal and Business Banking (PBB) Credit at Stanbic Bank Tanzania.

 

He is responsible for the retail lending portfolio, including the development and implementation of credit
capabilities, local credit procedures, and all governance processes including reporting to the credit risk management committee, Board Credit Committee and the Central Bank of Tanzania.

 

Peter commenced his banking career with CfC Stanbic Bank - Kenya in 2007, starting off as an Account Analyst, being promoted to Credit Origination Manager and later to Credit Evaluation Manager. He rose to become Head of Credit, Business Banking in 2011 before accepting the challenge to move to Stanbic Bank Tanzania as Head of PBB Credit in July 2013.

 

He holds a Masters of Science in Finance and Bachelor of Commerce Degrees from the University of Nairobi. He also boasts several professional awards including; ACCA (Affiliate) and Certificate in Bank Credit Assessment from Culhane Consulting - Cape Town, South Africa. He has also attended a number of trainings including Credit Portfolio Management, Applied International Trade Finance, Associate Professional Risk Management, Foundation Leadership Programme and is currently pursuing Retail Banking Academy qualifications.

 

Peter’s strengths lie in Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Reporting, Credit Analysis and Risk Management

 

  

 

Zainul Chandoo 

Head, Treasury

 

Zainul Chandoo is the Head of Treasury at Stanbic Bank Tanzania, a position he has held since 2014.
He is responsible for driving Driving balance sheet efficiency and resource optimization whilst ensuring sufficiency of financial resources to meet prudential requirements and group standards. As part of the role he assists in achieving returns in alignment with country and group expectations.

 

Zainul holds Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Leicester (UK) and a Masters in Business Administration from the American Intercontinental University (UK). He is Association Cambiste Internationale (ACI) Certified.

 

He is a seasoned banker, starting his career at Standard Chartered Bank as a Foreign Exchange Dealer in 2002 before being promoted to Head, Assets and Liability Management in 2005.
He joined Stanbic Bank Tanzania as Head of Global Markets in 2008.

 

  

 

Hellen Makanza 

Company Secretary

 

Hellen Makanza is currently the Company Secretary at Stanbic Bank Tanzania Limited.

 

Hellen is responsible for the governance of the Bank and is responsible for the Secretariat of the bank.

 

Hellen holds a Masters of Laws Degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Kent (UK) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from the University of Bedfordshire (UK). In 2011, she was appointed as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania by admission to the Tanzania Bar.

 

Upon completing her Masters Degree, Hellen joined the banking world, starting her career with the African Bank Corporation Tanzania Limited as a Management Trainee. In her four years with the bank she took on several roles including Compliance Officer, Compliance Manager and Company Secretary.

 

Hellen joined Stanbic Bank Tanzania Limited as Head of Credit Support in 2006 and was later seconded for a six-month stint under the Credit Division of the bank in South Africa. In 2009 she was appointed as Regional Head, Credit support for East Africa. Three years later she moved up to Head of CIB - Credit Legal and in December 2013 was appointed Head of Legal, a position she held until July 2016

 

 

 

Eric Rwelamira 

Head, Legal

 

Eric is the newest member of the Stanbic Bank Tanzania Executive Committee, having been appointed to his role in August 2016.

 

In his current role, he is responsible for providing effective strategic legal support and guidance to the Chief Executive, senior management and to the board of directors of the corporation.

 

He joined the bank in November 2014 as a Legal Manager for the bank’s Corporate & Investment Banking division. Eric has over 10 years’ experience in the legal and regulatory field. He previously worked at Airtel Tanzania, and has also worked for some of the prominent legal firms in Tanzania, including Rex Attorneys, Mkono & Co Advocates and ATZ Law Chambers.

 

Eric holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and Masters of Laws degree majoring in International Economics Law from the University of Warwick in England, and is an advocate of the High Court.

 

   

 

Eutropia Mwambeleko 

Head of Human Capital

 

Eutropia Mwambeleko is the Head of human capital of Stanbic Bank Tanzania.

 

She has the overall responsibility for ensuring that the Human Capital team delivers excellent client services, through strategic planning, business partnering, implementation of the continuous improvement plan, and alignment with the bank’s goals and aspirations.

 

Eutropia has a wealth of experience in a career spanning over 15 years. She joined Stanbic Bank from Barclays Bank Tanzania, where she worked in a similar capacity for over 4 years, and has also worked for various other prominent organizations such as Citibank and Unilever in Tanzania.

 

She holds a Bachelor of science in Education from University of Dar es Salaam, is a member of the Human Resource Society of Tanzania, and is currently the secretary of the Human Resource Committee of Tanzania Bankers Association.

Hatibu Senkoro 

Chairman of the Board

 

Mr. Hatibu Senkoro is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Ltd.



Mr. Senkoro is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and the International IMD ALUMNI Association.

He is also a fellow of the Tanzania Institute of Bankers, Tanzania Association of Accountants, and the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) of Tanzania. Mr. Senkoro is also an alumnae of the Harvard Business School, with over 30 years of industry experience in both the public and private sectors.



He began his career at the National Development Corporation as a Group Loans Officer in 1969 and ascended to become Director of Planning and Finance. He later on joined the Tanzania Audit Corporation (TAC) and Tanzania Development Finance Company Limited (TDFL) to take on other senior roles, before joining AngloGold Ashanti as Country Manager - subsequently retiring in 2009.

Mr. Senkoro has also been a Board Director and Chairman of several blue chip firms in the country including Precision Air, Busara Insurance Brokers Ltd and Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT). He has also been a Board Member to other companies like TDFL, Tanzania Oxygen Limited (TOL), Geita Gold Mining Limited, National Board of Accountants & Auditors (NBAA), to mention a few

 

  

 

Gregory Brackenridge 

Board Director (Non- Executive)

 

Mr. Gregory Brackenridge is the current Chief Executive of Stanbic Holdings Plc – a company listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and is also the Regional Chief Executive of East Africa for the Standard Bank Group.

 

Mr. Brackenridge has been with the Standard/Stanbic Bank group for almost 25 years, having worked in
several African countries including Zimbabwe, Nigeria, South Africa and currently in Kenya.

 

He has been involved in many projects and assignments including the acquisition of Uganda Commercial Bank and IBTC Chartered Bank in Nigeria. He has played a big role in developing and executing the Group’s expansion strategy in Africa.

 

  

 

Goddard James 

Board Director (Non-Executive)

 

Abel Goddard James is a Board Director of Stanbic Tanzania Ltd and the current Chairman of Board
Risk Committee. He has more than 37 years of service in both Private and Quasi-Public institutions
within and outside Tanzania including Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Tanzania Posts & Telecommunication Corporation (TP&TC) and later joined BP in the Southern Africa Sub-Region.

 

Goddard is multi-talented professional embracing cross functional Management skills ranging from Human Capital Management, Business Management, Corporate Governance, Reputation, Risk Management & Mitigation, and Ethics & Compliance to Advocacy & Lobbying. He had more than27 years of work experience in BP Southern Africa where he had the opportunity to work in countries like Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
He is currently Managing Director of Mindworks Ltd, where he provides strategic business direction and operations of the firm, and he was a co-founder Director of the Petroleum Institute of Tanzania (PIT).

 

Goddard holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Industrial Sociology (University of Dar es Salaam); M.A. Labour Studies (University of Sussex, UK ) and a Diploma Marketing Management and Physical Distribution, RVB (Holland).

 

  

 

Judika Kingori 

Board Director (Non – Executive)

 

Dr. Judika Kingori is a Board Director of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Ltd.

She is also the Acting Director of Planning & Finance, Head of Department of Accounting & Senior
Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Kingori is a Doctor of Philosphy (PhD) in Business Administration from the Southern Illinois University. She holds a Masters in Accountancy from the same university, and Masters in Business Administration from the Katholike Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Kingori is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Dr. Kingori began her accounting career at the Tanzania Audit Corporation and went on to join Coopers and Lybrand as a Senior Auditor. She has performed consultancy for various organizations.

 

  

 

Nada Margwe 

Board Director (Non Executive)

 

Mr. Nada Margwe is a Board Director of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Ltd.
 
He is the Chairman of the Board Audit Committee and a member of the Board Risk Committee.

Mr. Margwe comes with a strong accounting and auditing background, having worked at PwC for 35 years. He was a member of the PwC African Central Firms Governance Board and it’s Independence leader, ensuring that all the 9 countries complied with PwCs strict independence rules in its business dealings with customers.

Mr. Margwe is a member of the British Legion -Tanganyika Branch and was also the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Tanzania Association of Accountants (TAA) for 8 years. He is a member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) of Tanzania. At the moment he is serving as a Member of its Governing Council.

He was a partner and the Chief Operating Officer at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and led its Public Sector Advisory Group (PSG). He was also the firm’s Risk Partner - a role he has played for over 10 years.

Mr. Margwe has also had extensive experience working with government entities, donors, most private sector companies in the mining, agricultural, service and manufacturing sectors.

 

 

 

Nicholas Mbwanji 

Board Director (Non – Executive)

 

Mr. Nicholas Mbwanji is a Board Director of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Ltd.



He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of the Transport Resource Centre Ltd. He is
a Management Consultant advising different organizations on internal reforms, labour market issues, strategic and corporate planning.



Mr Mbwanji is also a Board Director at Energy Water and Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and Chairman of the Employment Board of the Dar es Salaam City Council. He has played similar roles for organizations like the Higher Education Students Loans Board (HESLB), Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE),National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority (SUMATRA) and the Labour Economic and Social Council (LESCO).



Mr. Mbwanji has spent much of his life-work in the public sector, having worked in various capacities at the National Transport Corporation and the Ministry of National Education. His areas of expertise include corporate governance, labour market analysis, change management, performance management, organizational effectiveness & development and executive
selection.



Mr. Mbwanji holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education - majoring in Physics & Mathematics from the University of Dar es Salaam. He also has a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management from the Polytechnic of Central in London. He has attended a variety of short courses including: Corporate Risk Management, Enhancing Board Effectiveness, International Financial Reporting Standards and Integrated Risk Management & Corporate Governance, to mention but a few
